FAQ

What people ask about garage floor coating.

How much does garage floor coating cost?

Garage floor coating in Orange County costs $4-$13 per square foot depending on the system chosen. Standard epoxy runs $4-$7/sq ft, while premium polyaspartic coatings range from $8-$13/sq ft. A typical 2-car garage costs $1,800-$5,800 for a complete coating system including surface prep, base coat, decorative flakes, and clear top coat.

How long does garage coating take?

Most 2-car garage floor coating projects are completed in 1-2 days. Polyaspartic systems can often be applied and cured in a single day, allowing you to walk on the floor within hours and park vehicles within 24 hours. Traditional epoxy systems may require 2 days with additional cure time before heavy use.

Epoxy vs polyaspartic — which is better?

Polyaspartic coatings cure faster (same-day return to service), offer superior UV stability so they will not yellow over time, and perform better in extreme temperatures. Epoxy is more budget-friendly and provides excellent adhesion and chemical resistance. Many of our clients choose a hybrid system with an epoxy base coat and polyaspartic top coat for the best of both worlds.

How long does garage floor coating last?

A professionally applied garage floor coating typically lasts 10-20 years with proper maintenance. Polyaspartic systems tend to last longer due to superior UV and abrasion resistance. Longevity depends on traffic volume, chemical exposure, and maintenance. Regular cleaning and avoiding harsh chemicals will maximize the lifespan of your coating.

Will the coating yellow in the California sun?

Polyaspartic top coats are UV-stable and do not yellow even in direct sun, which makes them the right choice for any garage that gets afternoon light or for outdoor areas like patios and walkways. Older epoxy-only systems can amber over time; we don't recommend epoxy as a top coat for sun-exposed installations.

How do I pick a color and flake blend?

We bring sample boards on-site so you can see actual finish under your garage's lighting, side-by-side with your floor's existing condition. Most clients choose a flake blend (Standard, Metallic, Solid, or Quartz) that complements their home's exterior — neutral grays and earth tones are the most popular in OC.
