FAQ

What people ask about home renovation.

How much does renovation cost?

Home renovation costs in Orange County vary by scope: kitchen remodels typically run $25,000-$75,000, bathroom renovations $15,000-$45,000, and whole-home remodels $100,000-$500,000+. Costs depend on materials, layout changes, and finish level. We provide free in-home estimates with transparent, itemized pricing.

How long does renovation take?

Kitchen remodels typically take 6-12 weeks, bathroom renovations 4-8 weeks, and whole-home remodels 3-8 months. Timelines depend on scope, permit requirements, material lead times, and structural changes. We provide a detailed project schedule during your consultation and keep you updated weekly.

Do I need permits?

Most renovation projects require permits, especially those involving structural changes, plumbing, electrical, or HVAC work. Cosmetic updates like painting and cabinet refacing typically do not. NHG HOME handles all permitting, HOA submissions, and inspections as part of our service at no extra hassle for you.

Can I stay home during renovation?

For kitchen and bathroom renovations, most homeowners stay in their homes. We set up dust barriers, protect finished areas, and maintain a clean worksite daily. For whole-home remodels involving structural work, temporary relocation may be more comfortable. We discuss living arrangements during planning to minimize disruption.

Will you handle structural work — load-bearing walls, beams?

Yes. Layout-driven renovations often need structural changes (open-concept walls, larger openings, additions). We coordinate the structural engineer, pull the permit, and execute the work — same team, same schedule, no handoffs.

Do you do ADUs (granny flats)?

Yes. ADU construction is one of our renovation specialties — both garage conversions and new detached units. Orange County and most OC cities have adopted statewide ADU streamlining, so the permit path is faster than it used to be. We size, design, permit, and build.
