FAQ

What people ask about wood flooring.

How much does wood flooring cost?

Wood flooring installation in Orange County typically costs $6 to $15 per square foot installed, depending on the type of wood, subfloor condition, and complexity of the layout. Solid hardwood runs $8-$15/sq ft while engineered wood ranges from $6-$12/sq ft. We provide free in-home estimates with transparent, itemized pricing.

What types of wood do you install?

We install solid hardwood (oak, maple, walnut, hickory), engineered wood flooring in a wide range of species and finishes, luxury vinyl plank (LVP), and laminate. Our team will help you select the best option based on your room conditions, foot traffic, pets, and design preferences.

How long does installation take?

Most wood flooring installations take 2-5 days depending on the area size and preparation needed. A typical 1,000 sq ft project takes about 3 days. Solid hardwood may require additional acclimation time of 3-5 days before installation begins. We provide a detailed timeline during your consultation.

How do I maintain wood floors?

Regular sweeping or vacuuming prevents dirt scratches. Use a damp mop with a pH-neutral wood floor cleaner weekly. Place felt pads under furniture legs, use doormats at entries, and maintain indoor humidity between 35-55%. Avoid excessive water and harsh chemicals. Refinish every 7-10 years depending on wear.

Can I refinish my existing hardwood instead of replacing it?

In most cases, yes. Solid hardwood can typically be refinished 3-5 times over its life, depending on wear-layer thickness. Engineered wood with a thick wear layer can also be refinished once or twice. We assess the floor's condition and tell you whether refinishing or full replacement is the right call.

What about pets and water — engineered or solid?

For active pet households or kitchens and bathrooms, engineered wood with a stable core or luxury vinyl plank is more forgiving than solid hardwood. For dry-rated rooms (living rooms, bedrooms, hallways), solid hardwood remains the long-lifetime choice — and refinishing keeps it looking new.

The right floor changes every room above it.
